Pussycat Dolls dünkü grup değil. Pussycat Dolls'u kareograf Robin Antin ve arkadaşları, 1993'te, Robin'in garajında kurmuşlar.
Keanu Reeves'in meşhur The Viper Room'unda, Roxy'de, sonra Carmen Elektra'nın açtığı The Pussycat Dolls'da pin-up kıyafetleri içinde şarkı söyleyip dans etmişler. Hatta Johhny Depp, kulübünü sırf onları sahneye çıkarmak için açtığını söylemiş. 6 yıl boyunca cuma geceleri The Viper Room'da sahneye çıkmışlar.
Bir gün kabare mantığı ile işleyen şovu izleyen Gwen Stefani çok eğlenmiş ve konuk olarak katılmak istemiş. Bundan sonra konuk işi almış yürümüş ve Brittany Murphy, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Osbourne, Pink, Britney Spears, Charlize Theron, Christina Applegate, Carmen Elektra, Nikka Costa, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson gibi ünlülerin de konuk olarak katıldığı şovlarını Los Angeles'da duymayan kalmamış. "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle"daki o meşhur dans sahnesindeki kızlar da işte bu kızlar. Eh, haliyle plak şirketlerinin yetenek avcıları da peşlerinde dolanmaya başlamış...
2002'de Interscope ile anlaşma imzalayan kadro şöyle: Asıl şarkıcı Nicole Scherzinger, geri kalanlar da Jessica Sutta, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt ve Melody Thornton. Nicole, Amerika'daki ilk popstar yarışmalarının birinin galibi, hayal meyal hatırladığımız Eden's Crush grubu ile bir ara Amerika'da ilk 10'a giren bir albüm ve single yapmış, Carmit, Ricky Martin'in La Vida Loca turunun ana dansçısıymış: Jessica, Ashley ve Kimberly popüler kulüp dansçılarıymış, Melody de son üyenin bulunması için yapılan elemelerde seçilmiş. Grubun gizli sesi o. Yakında daha çok öne çıkacak.
Önce "Shark Tale" soundtrack albümüne verdikleri "We Went As Far As We Felt Like Going" ile ısınmaya başlamışlar, "Shall We Dance"in soundtrack albümünde "Sway"i coverlamışlar, Will Smith ile düet yapmışlar ve sonunda ilk single'ları "Don't Cha" çıkmış. Butsa Rhymes ile düet yaptıkları şarkı Billboard Hot 100'de ve İngiltere single listesinde bir numara olmuş.
Pussycat Dolls'un albümü Eylül'ün 13'ünde çıktı. Albümde Black Eyed Peas'ın will.i.am'i ve Timbaland'ın parmağı var. Kliplerini ise sırasıyla Don’t Cha , Beep ve Buttons a çektiler...
